An official Opening in the Community Hall on Saturday 23rd April will showcase an example of work from each of the participating artists. The art auction, live music, drinks and nibbles will also be available.
There will be an earlier Opening and Prize Giving for Kids. Age groups include – Under 5years, 5-12years and 13-16years. A Fancy Dress and Fancy Bike competition and other activities are planned.
Jane Harper (Telecom winner for 2009) is donating a painting for the art auction. The painting, called "Hog’s Back Track" (on right), will be auctioned on the opening night to raise funds for the Hog’s Back mountain bike track in Craigieburn Forest Park.
Porters Ski Area are also supporting the Art Weekend by providing a block mounted photography by world renowned photographer Camilla Stoddard to be auctioned on Opening night. Porters are lucky to own the copyright of a discrete series of her images that she photographed for them a couple of years ago. These images have never been made available to the public before so this is a very exciting initiative for Porters and Castle Hill Village. The Exhibition will be in the Community Hall Sunday 24th April and Monday 25th April. From 10 – 4pm. All artworks will be for sale. Coffee and nibbles will also be available.
An Art Trail will meander through the village Sunday 24th April and Monday 25th April. The Art Trail consists of a series of artists residential locations where public are welcome to view further works and meet the artists. A map of the Art Trail locations will be available at the Community Hall Exhibition.
Creative Workshops will run on Sunday 24th April and Monday 25th April, including a Photo Trail with John O'Malley and a number of different workshops for Kids.
An Easter Egg Hunt for children will be run on the morning of Sunday 24th April.
A People's Choice Award will be presented at the end of the Exhibition. Visitors to the Exhibition have the opportunity to vote for their favorite art work.
